attractions. Kuta beach is famous for its surf, although it is not recommended for swimming. It is easy to get around Kuta on foot and a meander through Poppies Lanes I and II, which only motorbikes may enter, is a pleasant discovery of a variety of shopping and culinary experiences.

Following the beach north from Kuta, we have Legian, which although busy, is a lot less so than Kuta, due partly to a oneway road system that eases traffic congestion. A little more sophisticated than Kuta, the pace is slower in Legian although there is everything a visitor could wish for ; shops galore, restaurants, night clubs, bars, boutique hotels, and villa or private home. Legian is a little more residential with many expatriates also living in the area.

Denpasar have a population over 100.000, Bali’s capital is the largest city in the island. It is also the capital of the Badung regency. In the center of town is a large open square, called Puputan Square after the suicidal battle between the King of Badung and the Dutch militia in 1906. One side stands the Museum Bali and The Pura Jagatnatha, a sate temple. Across the square is the national military complex. On the third side are the Governor’s offices.
