The largest of this group of islands with two popular locations both have spectacular reefs. Many types of sailing vessels ply the water here from colorful jukung and Bugisnese naval ship, to all mashed sailing ship. There are numerous little inlets of white shining sand and lush tropical greenery, in sharp contrast to the soaring 90 foot high cliffs where the fisherman squat high amidst craggy rocks and the dark caves of giant bats.
TOYA PAKEH, this bay borders the awesome ceningan channel which separates the island. This channel has currents up to six knots and at 2000 metres is one of the deepest known in the world. The ocean life and seabeds on either side of the channel are completely different and in total contrast to each other, making a natural division between south east Asian and Australia. This constant flow of water feeds the reefs and coral gardens in the numerous bays throughout the channel. Toya pakeh is more sheltered and therefore less affected by the weather than any other bay in this area.

CRYSTAL BAY.The sheer beauty of this bay makes it a popular destination. Although being the least sheltered it is one the most affected by the weather. The narrow entrance creates a dramatic arrival and together with the great reef this can be an unforgettable experience. During the southeast trade wind season from april – november the swell and wind combine to make the bay less hospitable. Very nice for swimming and snorkeling.

LEMBONGAN VILLAGE, located in the first bay on the approach from Bali the secluded beach has a private beach club resort. The coral reef here is very good, although snorkeling and scuba diving is occasionally hindered by strong currents. The island is inhabited by approximately 800 families enjoying peaceful village life with occasional cock fight. The local form of industry revolves around seaweed farming.
