The Asian Beach Games, which are set to take place here in Bali from 26-28 October 2008, will feature three new sports, Pencak Silat, Kabadi and Beach Wrestling. This brings the total number of sports participating to 17. Pencak Silat is traditional Malay system of martial arts widely practiced throughout Indonesia, Kabadi is an Indian game widely considered the most advanced team sport that doesn’t use ball or other projectile. Two teams are 12 player play on a ‘pitch’ about half the size of basketball court. While holding his breath, one player has to rush into opponents zone touch one of the players (who are back holding hands) and get back without getting grabbed- all while holding his breath. Beach wrestling is like normal wrestling, except you get sand in your mouth ears and sometimes eyes. its played in a sand filled circle 6 metres in diameter. 45 countries have already confirmed their participation and 15 hotels with a capacity of 4000 have already been booked by the organizing committee.
