High tide at Legian Beach can give you some of the most power-packed beach breaks in the world. Always bigger than Kuta, although it usually closes-out on low tide, especially if the swell is over eight feet. Because Legian Beach is in the curve of the beach, it collects the compressed energy of all swells. If Kuta is only 3 foot, sometimes Legian Beach can be magnificent at 4 to 6 foot. A hot crew of young locals surf here regularly, so smile and be friendly to enjoy your sessions here.The first semi-permanent sandbank is at Jalan Melasti, near the Legian Beach Hotel. Jalan Padma, near the Bali Padma Hotel, often has the best waves, with lefts and rights on opposite banks paddling to wards each other for 100 meters, then joining up right on the beach. About 200 meters further north, near the Kuta Palace Hotel is the Sari beach break. After that the beach just keeps stretching to wards the mountains with more variable beach breaks that are usually quite un crowded. This area seems best on small swells.
