A picture-perfect left reef break with 50 to 100 meters rides. Best on mid to high-tide with swell 3 to 8 feet. Over 8 feet it doubles up for a very precarious leggy takeoff. Low tide is often too shallow. Kuta Reef is always Bali?s most crowded reef break, with locals and tourists alike, so show plenty of respect and friendliness. Also don?t paddle too far inside, to wards the first peak, because you can?t make the wave from there and locals will drop in on you every time. Try to take turns. You can paddle from the beach in 20 minutes, or hire a jukung outrigger ride for just a few dollars from the beach in front of the Sandi Phala hotel, at the end of Jalan Kartika Plaza, just past Holiday Inn. If Kuta Reef is too crowded, you could paddle 50 meters further south towards the airport for a fun short left, or on bigger days paddle 150 meters further out to the very outside breaks.
