WHERE TO SURF ?
If you are beginner, the beach from Kuta to Seminyak is the best spot to try out surfing. Sandy bottom and easy waves make it suitable for learning. However be aware of strong rip currents when waves are big. Best to go surfing with experienced surfers or join the many surf school available along the beach. For intermediate surfer head to canggu, dream land or medewi. Other spot in bali are most suitable for experienced surfers. Among the world-class spots includes padang-padang, geger-reef and uluwatu.

SURF LESSONS,
Local beach boys offer surf lesson for as little as 10 U$ per hour. There are also many professional surf school offer comprehensive tuition ranging from US$ 30-45 for standard 2,5 hours lesson. This is include tuition, return tranfers, boards, sun-protection, shirts and insurance cover.

BOARD HIRE
To hire a board on the beach price range from Rp. 30.000 per hour to Rp 150.000 for the whole day. The longer you hire, the keener the price. Generally speaking, you will get better price going surf shops are dotted throughout KUta, Legian than hiring on the beach.

BUYING A BOARD
A good second hand board, fins and leash cost in Rupiah 2 - 2,5 million. Brand new locally made board runs in Rupiah 3-4 million . There are many surf shop which sell brand new imported board. Expect to pay what you’d pay at home , and the some if you are new in surfing try to get unbiased advice about the board which is suit your physique level of ability and by type of surfing you want, Shop around!

There are many board repair stalls in the small street around poppies 2 lane in Kuta.

SURF TRIPS
Local surf guide & Car costs Rp 300.000 for half a day. For a full day trip expect to pay about Rp. 500.000

SURF TRIPS ON THE CHEAP
If you can surf already, then head to the wave on your own. You’ll pay about Rp. 30.000 per day for motorbike with board rack, if four wheels is more your speed, expect to pay Rp 80,000 per days for a suzuki jeep. Hire by week or months and you’ll pay less.
