
Seminyak ~ The predatory crown of thorns starfish is threatening Indonesia’s portion of the ” coral triangle”, the richest area of coral reef biodiversity on the planet, scientists warned this week. The starfish have been discovered in large numbers by researches from the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Australian-based ARC Centre of Excellence for coral reef studies, who surveyed reef around Halmahera in Indonesia’s Maluku island, a press release said.

Today on Wednesday, Galungan Day in Bali . Balinese will try to return to their own ancestral home at some stage during the day, even if they work in another part of this island. This is very special day for families, where offering are made to god and to the family ancestor who have come back to rest at this time in their family temple, visits are made to the village temple with offering as well, and to the homes of other families who may helped the family in some way over the past six months. Tomorrow 24/1/2008 is time for a Holiday, visiting friends, maybe taking opportunity to the mountain for picnic. Everyone is still seen to be in their ” Sunday Best” as they take to the street to enjoy the festive spirit that Galungan brings to Bali. cheers!
